Welcome to the Rising Sun in Woodcroft, a village pub set in the countryside on the outskirts of Chepstow. Nestled between the Rivers Wye and Severn, the pub is less than 100 yards from Offa’s Dyke path and the climbing area of Wintour’s Leap. Across the fields is the Wye Valley Greenway cycle path and not far from the Devils Pulpit looking over Tintern.
We are a local, community owned pub and winner of the CAMRA Pub Saving Award for 2023. We serve delicious locally sourced food, a superb selection of alcoholic, non-alcohol drinks and coffees in a beautifully restored pub with a fabulous garden.

Upcoming Events
Our coffee mornings are held on the last Thursday of the mont at 11am. We are looking forward to welcoming back old and new friends for a get together over coffee & cakes and we’ll also have our very much loved raffle…. See you all there!

• Draw held at the Coffee Morning on the last Thursday of the month.
Thank you! (2025 impact)
In 2025, supporters raised just over £1,000. This helped fund specialist fire‑proof curtains, free community events (including a New Year’s Eve curry), soup & roll events, raffle prizes for local causes, and contributed towards solar panels.
What we’re raising funds for (2026)
Improving our pub garden (e.g., wall repairs) and continuing free community events for all.

Tuesday Night Quiz
We have enjoyed over 150 Rising Sun Community Pub Quiz nights since we opened in 2023.
Our weekly Tuesday quizzes have raised over £6000 for numerous, local small charities, listed on our Fundraising Page.
A huge thank you to everyone who supports us here at our community pub, enabling us to give something back to local causes and especially to Adie our Extraordinary Quiz Master who prepares and hosts the quiz as a volunteer!
Dog Friendly
Our four legged friends are welcome in the garden and inside the bar.
Please ask our bar staff for complimentary doggy treats
Cribbage
If you would like a game of Crib but haven’t played in a while, ease yourself in gently, cutting and shuffling on a Tuesday afternoon between 2 and 4pm.
Darts
Come along on a Monday and get “on the oche” from 7:30pm.
Our Darts team also play on Wednesdays in the Chepstow Darts league.
